Svechha is a non-profit organization initiated to help other people and organizations in need to enable them to achieve financial freedom. Our aim is to increase social awareness and raise funds to support causes like children education, support for senior citizens, healthcare for everyone, village development and increase awareness on civic responsibilities. Svechha has chosen 5 Focus Areas to work with, Education, Health Care as primary focus areas and Old Age Care, Village Development, Social responsibility as secondary focus areas. Svechha also organizes fund-raising events like entertainment events, awareness events to raise funds to work in the 5 focus areas.
Our aim is to provide “Wings of Freedom” as many people as we can.
Freedom means

Empower through Education – Slum Children, Orphans & Disabled kids

Educate a child neglected by an alcoholic father, Educate a child without father, Educate a poor child, who is intelligent with no money to attend a good school, Educate a child, at the risk of turning into child labor, Educate a poor disabled kid to become self-sufficient. |
These are the objectives of Svechha when it comes to primary and secondary education, which is essential for any human being.
Svechha picks up the children from the slums after interacting with them regularly, mentors them at least once a month. The schools are identified mainly based on academic focus. Their annual progress cards are mailed annually to the sponsors.
Svechha started helping the education of orphans for the first time this year.
We increased the number of children that Svechha is sponsoring to 75 children for the academic year, 2009-2010.

Light Up Dark Lives – You can be Edison for Them
Even 129 years after Thomas Edison invented Light bulb(October 1879), Can you believe that there are people still living in darkness? They had to do that either because of poverty or because they have no electricity line where they are living. These people are very close to our home in A.P, in the mountains on the way to Araku valley from Vishakhapatnam. Svechha decided to break their nighttime darkness and entitle them to the most basic necessity of this century, a reliable light in the night.
“You gave us the eyes for the night time” – this is how one of the villagers thanked the sponsors.
Phase 1: The innovation design from Svechha volunteers helped reduce the implementation cost much lower. A charging pole was setup and 28 lights in Taadiguda village and 10 in Karrimaamidi hamlet were distributed. They are in Anantagiri mandal.

Phase 2: 25 lights were distributed to ST hostel in the tribal area near Rampachodavaram, East Godavari Dt.
Phase 3: 10 lights were given to a hamlet called Amalguda. Thanks to our volunteers who trekked 20kms to implement this project.
