Category Archive: Focus areas

To “Help People in Need”, Svechha has chosen different focus area to work with.

1) Education

Svechha has chosen to work in the education area because 1/4th of the world’s uneducated are from India. It is proven that education can bring in a social change by facilitating the following.

• Increases agricultural productivity & reduces malnutrition
• Raises productivity and income
• Promotes economic growth
Improves health and reduces HIV/AIDS

Svechha works in the following areas of education.

Sponsor education for poor kids and orphans
setup education infrastructure like libraries and school building
special training to the disabled kids to make them self-sufficient

2) Health Care

The economic development of any country brings along with it many health problems. India has growing number of health problems like obesity, increase in cancer, heart problems, diabetics including childhood diabetics.
Svechha works in the following areas in the health care among others.

Awareness campaigns on Cancer, blood and eye donation
Personal health care awareness
Sponsoring poor patients medical expenses
Rehabilitation programmes

3) Old Age Care

Today there are 77 million old people in India. This number is likely to rise to 177 million by 2025. 40% of the old live below poverty line. 58 per cent of females and 45 per cent of males in rural areas were fully dependent whereas in urban areas, these percentages were 64 and 46 respectively.

Old age people are helpless and disabled to even work at that age. So, we can help them lead a graceful life at that stage of their life.

Svechha is supporting one old age home in Hyderabad, India at present.

4) Village Development

Svechha offers help in village development activities either financially or by offering volunteer’s time. These can be setting up water purifying plants, connecting agricultual reserach with the farmers etc.

Svechha is also working in “Electrification of remote tribal villages” by offering them solar powered home lights.

5) Social Responsibility

Svechha is planning to work towards increasing awareness on civic responsibilities like responsible driving etc.

Fund Raising Events

To raise funds required to work in our focus areas, Svechha organizes events to raise funds. This contains details about the field work done by Svechha volunteers as well as the fund-raising events.
